SOFTWARE

• OWL-S API: OWL-S API provides a Java API for programmatic access to read, execute and write OWL-S (formerly known as DAML-S) service descriptions. The API supports to read different versions of OWL-S (OWL-S 1.0, OWL-S 0.9, DAML-S 0.7) descriptions. The API provides an ExecutionEngine that can invoke AtomicProcesses that has WSDL or UPnP groundings, and CompositeProcecesses.
   
• Pellet: Pellet is an OWL DL reasoner based on the tableaux algorithms developed for expressive Description Logics. It is written in Java and available as an open-source Java reasoner. It can be used in conjunction with either Jena or OWL API libraries. You can download Pellet API which provides functionalities such as species validation, checking consistency of ontologies, classifying the ontology, checking entailments and answering a subset of RDQL queries (known as ABox queries in DL terminology). You can also use the online demo which provides most of these functionalities.
   
• Swoop: I'm working on SWOOP project as a part-time developer. SWOOP is a hypermedia inspired ontology engineering environment. It provides a Web browser like interface (HTML interface, links, address bar, bookmarks, history) to navigate through the descriptions in an OWL ontology. OWL entities can be viewed, edited and compared in various different syntaxes.
   
• Web Service Composer (Inactive): Web Service Composer is a prototype that guides a user in the dynamic composition of web services. The semi-automatic process includes presenting matching services to the user at each step of a composition, filtering the possibilities by using semantic descriptions of the services. The generated composition is then directly executable through the WSDL grounding of the services. 
   
• OntoLink (Inactive): OntoLink (Ontology-Linker) is a knowledge integration tool that can be used to specify semantic and syntactic mappings/transformations between concepts defined in different ontologies/schemas. It is a general purpose tool to define mappings between ontology elements but it was primarily built to support web service composition and execution for DAML-S. OntoLink was designed and developed in collaboration with Fujitsu Labs of America, College Park to be used in the Task Computing Environment. It is now available as an open source tool.
