Despite the omnipresence of the World Wide Web in our lives and culture, graduate courses about the Web and Web research tend to be few and far between in Computer Science Departments. This graduate seminar is aimed at giving the student a background in how the current Web works (at an architectural level), at exploring emerging trends on the World Wide Web, and at examining new technologies that may change what we do on the Web. Students will read and comment on papers, present research, and develop a project showing a "proof of concept" demonstration for an advanced Web capability.
